Regardless of where the sector goes next, it’ s clear that the industry is taking a more nuanced view of asset management. Rather than assuming mature assets are on a fixed path toward abandonment, many operators are reevaluating how technology, diagnostics, and better planning can help extend the productive life and maximize recovery from existing infrastructure.
The challenge is determining which wells still have value to offer and which have reached the end of their useful lives. That decision begins not with intervention, but with understanding the asset itself. ■
