Shell Energy Europe Limited ( Shell ) has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with HANSAINVEST Real Assets to secure 600 megawatts ( MW ) of capacity at Germany ’ s largest solar project .
The Witznitz Energy Park , which is being constructed by MOVE ON Energy on the site of a former opencast coal mine near Leipzig , eastern Germany , is expected to start generating electricity by the end of 2023 .
Tom Summers , European Vice President at Shell Energy Trading , said : “ Solar power purchase agreements enable us to combine our strengths in power trading and optimization with our existing customer relationships to deliver more value with less emissions .”
Shell Energy Europe has also separately agreed to sell the power generated by 323 MW of the solar capacity to Microsoft Corporation .
By providing more and cleaner energy solutions to its customers , Shell aims to profitably transition into a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050 .

Forum Energy Technologies ( FET ) has introduced a new tooling rental offering for remotely operated vehicles ( ROVs ) in response to the changing demands of the subsea sector . With increasing ROV asset investment across hydrocarbon and offshore renewable energy , as well as defense sectors , FET ’ s new rental offering is designed to address the need for readily available tooling equipment in the development , operation , and maintenance of upcoming offshore projects .
The fleet of tooling will initially be manufactured and managed at FET ’ s UK facility in Kirkbymoorside , North Yorkshire . FET , which already has an existing rental fleet in Brazil , will also expand the availability of equipment to Europe , Asia and elsewhere in the Americas . James Foster-Rain , Subsea Tooling
