“ Beyond 2024 , we plan to develop a further four sites in 2026 and 2027 . We remain committed to our mission ; the systems are complex to deliver and even more complex to monetize , but we ’ re focused on delivery . We simplify processes where possible , but all sites are constructed using the same design , equipment , contractors , and installation team to ensure efficiency and consistency across the sites . As all the sites are transmission connected at a very high voltage level , they are located close to National Grid substations .”

Turning to the challenges CES is facing , Mike states : “ Our greatest challenge is resources . There are well documented issues like connectivity , lead times , equipment shortages , and policy , but each issue relates to the fact that there aren ’ t enough skilled people in the industry who understand our projects and their position within energy transition . However , companies around the globe are fighting for the same resources , making it a challenge to first find good quality employees and second , to retain them .
“ As a build-and-own company , our partnership model is helping us navigate the lack of resources in the industry . It ’ s natural that we think differently about what we ’ re building , as we know the asset is our responsibility to look after once completed .”
On a more personal note , Mike explains how his career has evolved . “ I trained as an engineer and joined National Grid , working on various grids across the country ,” he explains . “ After working in several other roles at different companies and with a wealth of experience in energy storage , I was approached to join Constantine around two and a half years ago to look after the BESS portfolio . It ’ s not often that you get an opportunity to help run investment platforms , so I jumped at the chance and came onboard in 2022 .
“ When I joined the industry , it was relatively boring compared to today , and
