It is clear that NNEC is dedicated to making a real impact where its members live and work. Of course, the top priority is the delivery of reliable and safe electricity, and this requires constant improvements and upgrades of systems and equipment. The most recent major system upgrade was in March 2025, when it successfully reconductored power lines in areas of Richmond and Lancaster counties served by the Garner and Robley substations. Reconductoring is the process of replacing and upgrading conductor lines. This is an essential step in strengthening the electric system and ensuring reliable service. This type of work is complex and hazardous, requiring skilled lineworkers and careful planning.
As part of the project, a planned outage was necessary, affecting over 700 members in parts of Richmond and Lancaster counties. This is because safety remains a top priority to NNEC and de-energizing the lines for this phase of the project helped protect crews and the community.
